Agbim: Balogun'll Be Asset For Eagles

National team reserve goalkeeper believes Germany based defender will do well in Eagles

Home based Super Eagles captain, Chigozie Agbim has heaped plaudits on new discovery, Leon Balogun will be a great player for Nigeria in future adding that the Fortuna Dusseldorf of Germany defender showed he has quality during the match against Mexico.

Agbim who won the 2013 AFCON with the Super Eagles in South Africa stated that with more games, Balogun will excel in Nigeria colours.

“I was impressed with what I saw of him during the match against Mexico. He was playing for the first time in Nigeria colour and was able to put up that level of quality performance.

“It means with time he will be better, for me he has a good future in the national team and I’m happy Keshi picked him out”, Agbim who plies his trade with Gombe United in the Nigeria top flight said.

The former Enugu Rangers and Warri Wolves goalkeeper however expressed disappointment with the injury that forced him out of the Mexico game.

“Unfortunately, we could not see much of him during the game because of injury. I hope he recovers well on time so that he can return to the team for the World Cup in Brazil in June”, the goalkeeper prayed.
